Stonelight is a Bucharest based melodic metal band, founded in 2013 by Mihai, Vanda, Laszlo and two other former members. Prior to “Stonelight” most members were part of the band “Fortress of Faith”, an important gothic metal band in the Romanian underground metal scene from 2007-2012. After a hiatus, all members decided that an evolution of style and a heavier sound were necessary and so the name was changed into the current “Stonelight” to the new ideas. The live keyboard element was also changed into Vanda’s keytar performance , allowing more on-stage mobility and audience interaction.
The band started with a few gigs in Bucharest, promoting the fresh crossover heavy melodic metal on local scenes such as Metal Under Moonlight, Silver Church, Fabrica Club, and finished the year 2014 with a mini tour around the country as support act for the band “Trooper”. The tour was very successful so the band toured again, in 2015’s fall , naming this the “ To Transylvania & back Tour”. Vlad Angelescu and Vlad Carabin are the newest additions to the band, replacing two former guitarists, Alex Mezei and Cristian Oftez.
In the autumn of 2016 Stonelight contributed to the tribute album “Back to Life - A Tribute To Goodbye To Gravity” dedicated to the victims of the Colective fire, by covering the song “I won’t wait” On 11th of November the band released the first studio album, “Into the Unknown” during a sold out concert in Fabrica Club in Bucharest. After this first concert followed a national tour reaching 5 cities.
During it’s activity Stonelight shared the stage with important Romanian as well as foreign bands such as, Myrath, Galadriel, Cargo, Trooper, Tiarra, etc.
